LTC James N Edwards
LTC Edwards is a native of Pittsburgh, PA. LTC Edwards started his military career in 1986 when he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as a medic/dental assistant. He did his Basic Training at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX August 1986 and his technical school at Sheppard AFB, Wichita Falls, TX. LTC Edwards was stationed at RAF Bentwaters/Woodbridge in Ipswich, England. After 9/11 LTC Edwards re-enlisted into the U.S. Army and attended OCS at Ft. McClelland, AL in 2004. LTC Edwards was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Chemical Corp. LTC Edwards first assignment was as a platoon leader for the 863rd Chemical Company in Dunbar, WV.
LTC Edwards was then assigned to 2/19th SFG (A) in Kenova, WV as the chemical officer. He was then assigned to 197th Regional Training Institute in Kingwood, WV as a TAC officer. In 2009 LTC Edwards branch transferred into the MP Regiment. He was assigned to the 151st MP BN in Gassaway, WV as the HHD Commander. LTC Edwards was then assigned as the 154th MP Company Commander in Moundsville, WV. LTC Edwards was assigned to the 77th BDE as the assistant S-3 in Glen Jean, WV. LTC Edwards was part of the Army Interagency Training and Education Center in Saint Albans, WV where he held multiple positions as the WMD CP Lead Instructor, S-3, Collective Training Branch Manager, and Exercise Branch Manager.
LTC Edwards deployed to Camp Beuhring, Kuwait and was assigned to the U.S. Embassy in Ammon, Jordan as an LNO in the Military Assistance Program for the 38th Division. LTC Edwards was then assigned to Task Force Jordan 5th SFG (A) as the OIC at Prince Hussein Royal Base, Jordan. After the deployment LTC Edwards was assigned to the National Guard Bureau as the J374 Deputy Branch Chief/Action Officer in Arlington, VA. LTC Edwards most recent assignment was at the 77th BDE as the S-3 in Glen Jean, WV.
His military education includes the Chemical Officer Basic Course, Chemical Officer Advanced Course, the Military Police Advanced Course, and the United States Army Command and General Staff College. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management at Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA in 1998 and a Master's in Strategic Leadership in Healthcare Administration at Charleston University in Charleston, WV in 2007. LTC Edwards is currently pursuing his Doctorate Degree in Leadership at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ and is expected to be completed this year.
LTC Edwards’ awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal , Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Army Achievement Medal, Air and Space Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism, Global War on terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (with 4 Oak Leaf Cluster), Armed Forces Reserve Medal (with Bronze Hourglass and M Device), and the Army Overseas Service Ribbon. He also earned the Parachutist Badge and the Korean Parachutist Badge. LTC Edwards earned the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Gold).
