
CSM Travis R. Kesner
Command Sergeant Major Travis Kesner is a native of Burlington, West Virginia. He graduated from Keyser High School in June 2002. He enlisted in the United States Army in 2005 and attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Georgia to become an Infantryman.
CSM Kesner has held numerous positions, which include Grenadier, Team Leader, Recon Team Leader, Ranger Instructor, Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant for 1-506 IN BN and 2-48 IN BCT, and Operations Sergeant Major for 1-502 IN and 2MBCT 101st ABN Division.
CSM Kesner’s stateside assignments include Fort Carson, CO, Fort Benning, GA, Fort Campbell, KY, and Fort Leonard Wood, MO. He has deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Inherent Resolve, and Operation Atlantic Resolve.
CSM Kesner’s military education includes Basic Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course (Commandant List), Maneuver Senior Leader Course (Commandant List), Master Leader Course, Sergeant Major Academy, Airborne School, Air Assault School, Pathfinder School, Ranger School, Reconnaissance Surveillance Leaders Course (RSLC), Combatives levels one and two.
CSM Kesner’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (one oak leaf cluster); Meritorious Service Medal (four oak leaf clusters); Army Commendation Medal (with four oak leaf clusters and “C” device); Army Achievement Medal (four oak leaf clusters); Afghanistan Campaign Medal (three campaign star); Iraqi Campaign Medal (two campaign stars); Inherit Resolve Campaign Medal; Global War on Terror Service Medal; Humanitarian Service Medal; Overseas Service Ribbon (fourth award); Master Combat Infantry Badge; Combat Infantryman’s Badge; Expert Infantryman’s badge; Pathfinder Badge; Parachutist’s Badge; and the Air Assault Badge.
