SGM Gedney P. Riley

 

Sergeant Major Gedney P. Riley is a native of Augusta, Georgia. He entered active duty in 1998 at Fort McClellan, Alabama where he graduated One Station Unit Training (OSUT) as a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Specialist (74D). He has served in numerous leadership, staff, and key billets throughout his career including the CBRN Branch SGM at the US Army Human Resources Command, and his current position as the CBRN Proponent SGM. His deployments include Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

 

His military education includes the Sergeant’s Major Course Class 73, Master Leader Course (MLC), Senior Leader Course (SLC), Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course (BNCOC), Primary Leadership Development Course (PLDC), Theater Nuclear Operations Course (TNOC), Company Commander/First Sergeant Pre-Command Course (SQI M), Training Developer Course, Cadre Training Course, Biological Integrated Defense Course (BIDS) (ASI L4), CBRN Reconnaissance for Brigade Combat Teams (ASI L6), Foundational Instructor/Facilitator Course (SQI 8), Tactical Information Operations (ASI P4), Counter Radio Controlled Improvised Explosive Device EW (CREW) Master Gunner (ASI 1K), Battle Staff NCO Course (ASI 2S), and NBC Reconnaissance Course (ASI L5). He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Homeland Security and Emergency Management from the University of Arizona Global Campus, a Bachelor of Arts and an Undergraduate Certificate in Leadership and Workforce Development from the United States Army Command and General Staff College, and an Associate of General Studies from Central Texas College. He is currently pursuing his Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration in homeland security and emergency management.

 

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (2nd Award), Meritorious Service Medal (3rd Award), Army Commendation Medal (5th Award), Army Achievement Medal (3rd Award), Army Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2 Campaign Stars), Iraqi Campaign Medal (4 Campaign Stars), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (5th Award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (8th Award), NATO Medal. He has earned the Combat Action Badge and Basic Instructor Badge. He is also a recipient of the Chemical Corps’ Ancient Order of the Dragon and Chemical Corps’ Honorable Order of the Dragon.
