Lieutenant Colonel (R) Pete Lofy
Lieutenant Colonel (R) Lofy is a native of Platteville, Wisconsin, is married and the father of 3 children. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and Regular Army Commission from the University of Wisconsin at Platteville and a Masters Degree in Physical/Analytical Chemistry from the University of Utah. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Chemical Corps in 1989.
Pete currently serves as the Joint Program Executive Office for CBRN Defense (JPEO-CBRND) Engagement Officer (EO) and Program Manager (PM) to United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) and is responsible for the interactions between the two organizations, to include providing visibility between the JPEO-CBRND and USNORTHCOM on Chemical and Biological Defense Program (CBDP) issues and initiatives.
Since assuming the role as EO to USNORTHCOM, Pete has worked with the USNORTHCOM CBRN Community to optimize requirements that support the CBRN Response Enterprise (CRE). This effort includes working with the Science and Technology, Exercise, Operations, Intelligence, Logistics, Plans and Capabilities Staffs to ensure JPEO-CBRND capability is properly identified and integrated into USNORTHCOM operations. Pete also works with USNORTHCOM’s Service Components and Subordinates to ensure their CBRN equities are addressed. Pete also has served as the JPEO-CBRND’s Foreign Military Sales Program Manager for the country of Kuwait, ensuring that this partner nation has the capability to survive a CBRN event in that country.
Pete is a retired US Army Officer, with over 23 years of active duty service and 34 years of total Federal service. His primary specialty while on active duty was a CBRN Defense Officer, in peacetime and combat. His duties included CBRN Plans, Training and Operations Officer at the battalion, regimental, division, corps and strategic levels. He was the first Deputy Commander and Operations, Plans and Training Officer for the 48th Chemical Brigade. He has also served as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the United States Military Academy at West Point and an Adjunct Professor of Disaster Public Health at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs.
LTC (R) Lofy is a lifetime member of the Chemical Corps Regimental Association and a lifetime member of the 3d Armored Cavalry Association. He is published multiple times in the US Army Chemical Review and various Physical Chemistry Publications.
