Colonel Carl V. Burke
Colonel Carl V. Burke was born on 1 December 1909 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. After graduation from college, he entered the U.S. Army’s Chemical Warfare Service.
During World War II, Colonel Burke organized the first Chemical Warfare School and Training Center in Australia. As an instructor at the Infantry School, he updated and developed Chemical Corps training for infantry Soldiers. As the Chemical Officer for the Third U.S. Army, he developed a policy that insured the integration of chemical, biological and radiological operations.
During the Korean War, Colonel Burke was the Chemical Advisor to the Commander in Chief (CINC), Pacific and developed plans for Chemical defensive and offensive operations in Korea.
Colonel Burke retired in 1965 and lived in Jacksonville, Alabama.
Colonel Carl V. Burke passed away in 2002.
