Brigadier General (Retired) William E. King, IV has served in a wide variety of command, leadership, and staff positions across numerous levels of the U.S. Army Joint Task Forces, Regional Commands, and mosts srecently as the Commanding General Joint Task Force Elimination and 20th CBRNE Command before retiring in July of 2017 after 30+ years of active duty service. He joined Booz Allen in November of 2017 and provides expertise to their clients on synchronization and integration strategies related to countering weapons of mass destruction (CWMD) within the government and international sector. As a senior fellow, he identifies challenges and opportunities and provides strategic thinking related to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosives (CBRNE) policies, modernization, and capability and capacity development.

BG (R) King’s expertise has been developed through a series of multi-echelon capability and leadership positions, enabling him to address the nation’s most difficult and complex CWMD challenges. As a leader in the field, he is adept at building teams and is widely recognized for his breadth of knowledge, experience and depth of understanding CWMD issues.

Throughout his distinguished military career, William received many prestigious honors, including the Distinguished Service Medal, three awards of the Legion of Merit, two Bronze Star Awards, six Meritorious Service Medals, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, five Army Commendation Medals, five Army Achievement Medals, U.S. Army Chemical Corps Honorary and Ancient Order of the Dragon and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, among others. He has also published numerous articles and studies.

William is a career chemical officer with certification and advanced degrees in strategy, operational planning, national-level resource management, space-based applications, and several special access programs. He graduated with distinguished military graduate honors with a B.S. in chemistry from the University of Richmond, Virginia. He also holds four M.S. degrees, two from the Command and General Staff College in general military studies and applied space applications, one from the School of Advanced Military Studies in theater operations and planning, and one from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces in national resource strategy.

William is also actively involved in and received accolades from many professional associations, including the Association of the U.S. Army, Association of the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, Chemical Corps Regimental Association, National Capitol Region Chemical Corps Regimental Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and American Legion, among others. He also volunteers in his church and troop activities with his local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America. His continued mentorship and volunteer work make him a role model for volunteer service to our Chemical Dragon Soldiers and our Corps.
