Team Meade,
Based on current global events, Fort Meade is implementing increased force protection and security measures across the installation. Employees, residents, and visitors should plan for these enhanced measures and potentially longer wait times.
Please be prepared for the following, effective immediately:
Installation-Wide Security Measures
- 100% ID Checks Remain in Effect: All personnel, residents, and visitors must present a valid ID for entry. For more information, please reference the Fort Meade Installation Access Page at https://home.army.mil/meade/index.php/about/visitor-information
- Increased Vehicle Inspections: Fort Meade Directorate of Emergency Services will increase random vehicle inspections at the Access Control Points. Please allow for extra time when entering the installation, especially during peak hours.
- Enhanced Security Presence: You will notice an increase in highly visible security patrols and checks across our facilities, schools, high population areas, and housing communities.
Rideshare & Delivery Service Access
Effective Wednesday, March 4 at 5 a.m.: Commercial drivers for services like Uber, Lyft, and DoorDash who do not have their own DoD-issued ID card will be denied entry to the installation.
We understand this will have a significant impact on our community. This necessary security action ensures we can thoroughly vet all personnel accessing Fort Meade.
What this means for you:
- You must meet drivers who do not have a DoD ID at a location off post for pickups and deliveries.
- Drivers who already have a valid DoD ID (e.g., a service member, spouse, or civilian who drives for Uber/Lyft) can still access the installation as normal.
See Something? Say Something!
Your vigilance is critical. If you see suspicious activity, report it immediately.
- Non-Emergency: 301-677-6622
- Emergency: 911
We appreciate your partnership and understanding as we work to keep our community safe.
