ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Please be advised that Cooper Rd. and English Ave. near the parade field will be blocked off to traffic for the Army 250th Birthday Run tomorrow, Jun. 13.
During the run, emergency vehicles will temporarily block roads as needed.

EVENT: Fort Meade Army Birthday Celebration

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Fort George G. Meade will host a celebration and fireworks display on Friday, June 13, in honor of the Army’s 250th Birthday.
The event is free and open to the public beginning at 4 p.m. Friday with a live DJ, numerous food vendors, a bouncy house, a military aircraft flyover and fireworks set to begin after sunset.
Beginning at 4 p.m. individuals without military identification must enter through the Reece / 175 gate with a REAL ID. Visitors will be directed to the main parking area and all vehicles are subject to inspection.
DoD ID-card holders, and their passengers, can enter through the Mapes / 32; the Mapes / 175, or the Rockenbach / 175 entrances. Everyone entering the base will be directed to parking depending on which gate they entered. All passengers over 18 must also have proper identification.
Road closures for the event include:
• English and Cooper Avenues south of Mapes Road will be closed all day
• At 3 p.m., Mapes Road will be closed between Cooper Avenue and MacArthur Road
All Fort Meade residents who live on the north side of post are encouraged to park in the lots north of Mapes or walk to the event.
After the fireworks, all vehicle traffic south of Mapes Road will be directed off-post. Residents who are part of that traffic will have to re-enter through one of the other gates after the event. Please ensure you have proper identification to re-enter post.
Lawn chairs, picnic blankets, coolers and small canopies are welcome. Sparklers, glass bottles and grills are prohibited. Please leave pets at home.
