ACP & VCC Hours Reduced Due to Staffing Shortage
Fort George G. Meade, MD – Due to a current manning shortage, the Directorate of Emergency Services will be implementing reduced hours of operation for Access Control Points (ACPs) 1 and 7, and temporarily closing the Visitor Control Center (VCC) during a specific period each day. These changes are necessary to maintain security operations with available personnel.
Effective Dates:
- Visitor Control Center (VCC): Reduced hours begin July 21, 2025.
- ACP 1 (Rockenbach) & ACP 7 (Mapes/32): Reduced hours begin July 26, 2025.
New Hours of Operation:
The following hours will be in effect until further notice:
ACP/VCC | Weekday Hours | Weekend Hours |
---|---|---|
ACP 1 (Rockenbach) | 5:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. | Closed |
ACP 3 (Reece) | 24/7 | 24/7 |
ACP 4 (Mapes/175) | 6 a.m. - 9 a.m. | 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. (Outbound Only) | Closed |
ACP 7 (Mapes/32) | 5:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. | Closed |
VCC | 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. | Closed 1200 – 1300 daily | Closed |
Visitor Access During VCC Closure:
When the VCC is closed (12-1 p.m. Monday through Friday & weekends), visitors should enter the installation through the visitor lane at Reece Road Gate.
Impact:
Visitors should plan accordingly, anticipating potential delays during peak hours. The temporary closure of the VCC from 12-1 p.m. daily will require visitors to adjust their arrival times and utilize the designated alternate access point.
We understand these changes may cause inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work to address the staffing challenges.
