The FAPH(M) TSC manages a 5-Lane ESTII, a laser-based unit, indoor, multipurpose arms trainer for Individual Weapons Systems. The ESTII supports realistic and comprehensive rifle marksmanship instruction and identifies Warfighters’ needs by requiring them to satisfy individual weapons qualification requirements. The system displays targets, terrain, and weapon effects in a real time, while experiencing an approximation to the actual weapon's sound, weight, and recoil. The system provides training for marksmanship, static unit collective training, use-of-force judgments, provides extensive after-action review support, and facilitates any necessary remedial training prior to live-fire qualification. The following individual weapons systems are available: M9, M16A4, M4, M249, M240B, M320, and M1200. The facility is capable of 24/7 ESTII Range Operations.
Training and Reservations:
At the time of requesting reservations for the ESTII, units MUST provide the name of their designated ESTII Certified Operator who has been Train-the-Trainer (TTT) certified at any TSC within the past year. This certification will be verified through the Army training database, which is available to any TSC worldwide. The unit will not be allowed to run ESTII without their Certified Operator present. The unit has two hours from scheduled start time to occupy the ESTII with their Certified Operator, after which the training will be canceled and the ESTII made available to other units. Reservations for unit training or ESTII certification are scheduled via the Range Facility Management Support System (RFMSS) under Fort A.P. Hill or by contacting the ESTII Manager. Please call (804) 633-8174 if you need assistance setting up a RFMSS account. Reservations cannot exceed 6 months out from the date of request.
