DPW Announces Temporary Closures Due to Bridge Repairs
The Fort Meade Department of Public Works announced vehicle traffic will be affected starting Weds., Nov. 4, with repair work being done on Broadfoot Road near Gaffney Fitness Center between York Ave and Leonard Wood Avenue.
DPW will be closing the Broadfoot Road Bridge to all traffic during certain phases of the bridge repair project. The detour will only be during daytime working hours. The barricades and signs will be moved or covered when the bridge is open at night and on weekends.
The attached drawing shows the route we are proposing. Please advise if there is a more appropriate route.
At no time will both Broadfoot and Simonds Bridge be closed at the same time.

Traffic driving east on Broadfoot Rd:

Place barrels or cones with a detour sign (arrow pointing LEFT) at York Ave. There will also be a sign stating 'ROAD CLOSED"

Traffic will be detoured to Simonds Rd. At the southwest side of Simonds there will be a detour sign with an arrow pointing RIGHT.

Traffic will then be detoured to Leonard Wood Ave. There will be a detour sign at the southwest corner of Leonard Wood Ave and Simonds Rd. with an arrow pointing "RIGHT".

Traffic with then be detoured back to Broadfoot Rd. via Leonard Wood Ave. At Broadfoot Rd. there will be a sign stating "END OF DETOUR”

Traffic driving west on Broadfoot Rd.

Place barrels or cones with a detour sign (arrow pointing RIGHT) at Leonard Wood Ave. There will also be a "ROAD CLOSED" sign at this location.

Traffic will be detoured to Simonds St. At the southwest corner of Leonard Wood and Simonds St. there will be a Detour Sign with arrow pointing LEFT.

At York Ave. there will be a detour sign at southwest corner of Simonds St. and York Ave. with an arrow pointing LEFT.

At Broadfoot Rd. there will be a sign stating "END OF DETOUR"
