Following the MI Officer Basic Course, Witherspoon served as an intelligence officer for the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) where she deployed to Afghanistan four times as a special operations task force S2 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. She transitioned to 1-101st where she served as the 2-320th Field Artillery Regiment S2 from 2014-2015. Following the Captains Career course she returned as the 3-160th SOAR (A), she deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom's Sentinel and Iraq in support of Inherent Resolve as a special operations task force S2. She also deployed multiple times to South America and Africa in support of Joint Combined Exchange Trainings. She commanded HHC/ 4-3 Assault Helicopter Battalion during their 2017-2018 deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom's Sentinel.
Witherspoon began her broadening fellowship at the NSA as part of the Junior Officer Cryptologic Career Program (JOCCP) in 2019. During this time, she completed over 1000 hours of technical training at the National Cryptologic School and served at multiple echelons within the NSA. During the course of her duties she routinely interfaced and prepared executive updates for senior USG officials and 2nd/ 3rd party partners, served as the project lead for a future Army SIGINT system, and served as the military collection lead for the Russia-Ukraine Crisis Event.
Following her broadening assignment, she transitioned to the Army Pacific Technical Control and Analysis Element (APTCAE) Chief. In this role she synchronized Army SIGINT operations across the Pacific with Joint Service and National partners, brought new capabilities into theater, and ensured training and readiness of down-trace and rotational units to ensure the theater SIGINT enterprise was optimally postured during competition, crisis and conflict. Most recently, she transitioned to the S3 in the 205th MI BN, 500th MIB-T.
Witherspoon is a graduate of the Military Intelligence Officer Basic and Captains Career courses, and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from D’Youville University, a Master of Military Arts and Science from the Command and General Staff College, and a Master of Arts in Security Studies from the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.
Witherspoon is married with three bonus children.
