Kandybowicz is a native of Phoenix, Arizona. He commissioned into the U.S. Army in 2008 from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, where he graduated Sigma Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in History. In 2018, he graduated with a Master’s Degree in Security Studies and Intelligence from Embry Riddle, Arizona.
Kandybowicz’s military education includes the Armor Officer Basic Course at Fort Knox, Kentucky, the Military Intelligence Captain’s Career Course, the Advanced Reconnaissance Course, Space Operations Course and the Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
Kandybowicz’s significant assignments include the MI MAJ Career Manager at HRC; Military Intelligence Basic Officer Leader Course (MIBOLC) Chief, Battalion Operations Officer 305th MI BN, Squadron S2, “Blackjack 2” 4-10CAV, G2 Operations Officer 2ID, Scout PLT Leader 7-10CAV.
Kandybowicz has deployed two times in Operation Enduring Freedom during the Afghanistan Surge and Operation Spartan Shield to the Kingdom of Jordan.
Kandybowicz’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), Army Commendation Medal with Valor, Army Commendation Medal (3OLC) Army Achievement Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two Campaign Stars, Korean Defense Medal, Meritorious Unit Medal, NATO Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Overseas Service Ribbon (2OLC).
