Upon entering active duty as an Infantry Officer, Bourque was assigned to the reactivated 2-4 Infantry Battalion, in the newly formed 4th Brigade, 10th Mountain Division at Fort Polk, Louisiana (known as Fort Johnson since 2023). While assigned to 2-4 Infantry, he served as a rifle platoon leader, scout platoon leader, rear detachment commander, and assistant operations officer. Bourque deployed twice with 2-4 Infantry, once in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and once in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Following his attendance at the Military Intelligence Captains Career Course, Bourque was assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, North Carolina (known as Fort Liberty since 2023), where he served as the Group Deputy Intelligence Officer and as the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force- Afghanistan Targeting Officer. He then moved to the 3rd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) where he served as the Intelligence Officer for the battalion and as the Senior Intelligence Officer for Special Operations Task Force- East in Afghanistan. Bourque then took command of the 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) Military Intelligence Detachment.
Following his four years in 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), Bourque served as the Brigade Intelligence Officer for the 20th Engineer Brigade (Combat), XVIII Airborne Corps. He was then selected for the Master of Science of Strategic Intelligence degree program at the National Intelligence University. Following completion of the master’s degree program, Bourque was assigned to the Joint Special Operations Command’s (JSOC) Joint Interagency Task Force-National Capital Region where he served as JSOC’s liaison officer to the Department of Homeland Security, an ACE Chief, and as a Deputy Intelligence Officer. After completing his three-year joint-duty assignment which included another deployment to CENTCOM, Bourque moved to Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, where he was assigned as the Battalion Operations Officer for the 502nd Expeditionary Military Intelligence Battalion (E-MI BN), 201st Expeditionary Military Intelligence Brigade (EMIB). Following Battalion S3, he moved up to be the Brigade S3, and deployed to Afghanistan as the Theater Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Task Force Director of Operations. Upon redeployment, Bourque assumed duties as the 201st EMIB Executive Officer.
Most recently, Bourque served as the Assistant Chief of Staff, G2, for the 94th Army Air and Missile Defense Command and then as the Assistant Chief of Staff, G2, 25th Infantry Division. He currently serves as the Deputy Chief, Adversary Defeat for National Security Agency-Hawaii's Cybersecurity Directorate.
His awards include: the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Senior Parachutists' Badge, the Combat Infantryman's Badge and the Ranger Tab.
Bourque is married and has two children.
