Gedaliah Scharold, a native of Kennewick, Washington, commissioned in the U.S. Army in 2007 as a second lieutenant, completing the Basic Officer Leadership Course at Fort Benning, Georgia (known as Fort Moore since 2023), and Military Intelligence Officer Basic Course (MIBOLC) at Fort Huachuca, Arizona.

Scharold currently serves as the Military Deputy Army Capability Manager for Intelligence Sensors (ACM-IS), Intelligence Capabilities Development and Integration Directorate (I-CDID), Fort Huachuca, Arizona.

Previously deployed with 31st Air Defense Artillery Brigade to Qatar in support of Operation Spartan Shield from 2018-2019, 4th Brigade, 1st Infantry Division to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from 2012-2013 and with 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2008-2009.

His previous assignments include: Division G2 and Deputy SIO, National Training Center Operations Group, Fort Irwin, California; Brigade Intelligence Officer (S2), 31st Air Defense Artillery Brigade, Fort Sill, Oklahoma; Corps Intelligence Targeting Officer, Geospatial Intelligence Officer, and Special Security Officer, I Corps, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington; Headquarters and Headquarters Company Commander and Battalion Intelligence Officer (S2), 701st Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas; Battalion Intelligence Officer (S2) and Tactical Intelligence Officer, 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, Brigade Collection Manager and ISR Analysis Platoon Leader, 184th Military Intelligence Company, Brigade Troops Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

Scharold’s military education includes Intermediate Level Education, Military Intelligence Captains Career Course, Joint Targeting School, Precision Fires Target Mensuration Program, Army and Joint Military Deception Planner’s Course, Geospatial Intelligence Officer’s Course, Military Intelligence Basic Officer’s Leader Course, and the Basic Officer Leader’s Course.

Scharold’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (1 OLC), the Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), the Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (3 OLC), the Meritorious Unit Commendation (1 OLC), the Afghanistan Campaign Medal (1 CS), the Iraq Campaign Medal (2 CS), the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the NATO Medal, the Combat Action Badge and the Army Space Badge (Basic).
