MAJ_Gumbiner_Felix_C_Photo.jpgMaj. Felix Christiaan Gumbiner was born in Heidelberg, Germany, in 1983 and raised in San Francisco, California, and Larchmont, New York. He graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology. After attending Basic Combat Training and Officer Candidate School at Fort Moore, Georgia, he commissioned as a military intelligence officer in 2008.

Following the Military Intelligence Basic Officer Leader Course at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, Gumbiner was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment (Assault) at Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia. From 2009 until 2012, Felix served as an Assistant Battalion S2 and Battalion S2 while deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

In 2013, after completing the Military Intelligence Captains Career Course and the Counterintelligence Special Agent Course at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, Gumbiner was assigned to Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. From 2013 to 2015, he served as a Battalion S2 for the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment (3-2 SBCT) and as the commander of Bravo Company, 502d MI Battalion (201st BfSB).

In 2015, Gumbiner was selected for a nominative counterintelligence assignment with the 902d Military Intelligence Group at Fort Meade, Maryland. In 2018, he was chosen to participate in the inaugural Army Intelligence Development Program-Counterintelligence. Following graduation from Intermediate Level Education in 2019, he returned to the 902d and served as S3 and Executive Officer for the 310th MI Battalion.

In 2021, Gumbiner was selected for the Army Congressional Fellowship program. After completing a Master of Professional Studies in Legislative Affairs at George Washington University, he served in the office of Representative Marilyn Strickland (WA-10). Gumbiner is currently assigned to the Army Staff as a Legislative Liaison with the Office of the Chief Legislative Liaison.

Gumbiner’s training includes the Criminal Investigator Training Program (Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Glynco, Georgia); the Advanced Counterintelligence Investigations Course (Quantico, Virginia); Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape (US Air Force Survival School, Spokane, Washington); and advanced weapons, vehicle handling, and signature reduction operations training (Fort Liberty, North Carolina, and Summit Point, West Virginia).
