In April 2011, Chapin graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration – finance, from Eastern Michigan University. At the same time, he commissioned through the Eastern Michigan Reserve Officer Training Corps program as an Armor Officer. In July 2024, Chapin will attend the National Intelligence University to get his master’s in strategic intelligence.
Over the past 12 years, Chapin served as a Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, Battalion S4, assistant Operation officer, Company Commander, Deputy Group S2, and Brigade S2. He most recently served as the Brigade Senior intelligence officer for 4th Security Force Assistance Brigade at Fort Carson, Colorado.
Chapin’s overseas assignments and deployments include Afghanistan, Kuwait, Belgium, Singapore, and various other European countries. His training includes the Military Intelligence Captains Career Course, Counterintelligence Officers’ Course, Signals Intelligence Officers’ Course, and the Command and General Staff College. His military awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal and the NATO Medal.
Chapin is an avid trail runner, snowboarder, and hiker. His favorite sport is football and the Detroit Lions are his favorite team. He loves to be outdoors and spend time with his family.
He is married and has one child.
