Williams has served in a variety of assignments primarily within the U.S. Army Special Operations Command. His stateside tactical and operational assignments include postings in South Carolina, Washington state, Arizona, Georgia, Tennessee, Washington D.C. and Rhode Island mostly with the 75th Ranger Regiment. He also served as a targeting officer and interagency liaison at Langley, Virginia, where he was responsible for advising interagency and Army leaders on U.S. counterterrorism policy. Most recently, he completed the Army Congressional Fellowship.
Williams has seven combat tours, including three to Iraq, two to Afghanistan, and two to Turkey. His most recent deployment took him to Turkey in 2017 as the Senior Intelligence Officer for Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force Syria where he focused on assisting partnered forces and conducting counterterrorism missions in Syria against the Islamic State.
Williams holds a Bachelor of Science in Biological Engineering from Louisiana State University, a Master of Arts in Defense and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College in Rhode Island, and a Master of Professional Studies in Legislative Affairs from George Washington University.
His military education includes the Naval Command and Staff Course, Military Intelligence Captains Career Course, Military Intelligence Officer Basic Course, Defense Advanced Tradecraft Course, Counterintelligence and Human Intelligence Management Course, Anti-Terrorism Course, U.S. Army Jumpmaster Course, Airborne School, and Ranger School.
Williams' awards include the Bronze Star Medal (three awards), Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Army Commendation Medal (four awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (two awards), Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge, and the Ranger Tab.
He lives with his wife and his 11-year-old twins. He enjoys playing sports, weightlifting, traveling and spending time with his family
