Couture’s first duty assignment was in the 313th Military Intelligence (MI) Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division in 1999, where he served as a Ground Surveillance team member and team leader, and later as a driver for the Assistant Division Command for Support. In 2003, he was selected for the Green to Gold program and attended ROTC at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Couture commissioned in 2007 as a Military Intelligence Officer with a branch detail to Infantry. He served as a platoon leader, executive officer and troop commander in 3rd Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division. After the MI Captains Career Course, Couture served as MI Detachment Commander and S2 for 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne). He was later assigned to the Army Cyber Command (ARCYBER) G2 ACE as an All-Source Intelligence Team leader. Couture attended graduate school through the Advanced Civil Schooling program, where he earned a Master of Science in Cybersecurity in Computer Science at the George Washington University. Couture then completed a utilization assignment in the ARCYBER G24 Single Source Element where he led the command’s Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) program and Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) activities for the Army Cyberspace Operations Integration Center. Upon completion of the Command and General Staff College, he served as the S2 for 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne).
His deployments include Operation Allied Force (Albania, 1999), Operation Joint Guardian (Kosovo, 1999), Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan 2002 (x2), 2011), Operation Iraqi Freedom (Kuwait, Iraq 2003, 2008).
Couture is a graduate of the Basic Combat Training, Ground Surveillance Systems Operator Advanced Individual Training, Airborne School, Jumpmaster School, Infantry Officers Basic Course, Ranger School, CI/HUMINT Operations Management Course, Military Intelligence Captains Career Course and the Command and General Staff College.
Couture’s military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (one oak leaf cluster), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (five oak leaf clusters), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (one oak leaf cluster), the Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, and Ranger Tab.
