LTC_Upshaw_Charles_Andrew_Photo.jpgLt. Col. Andrew Upshaw is a native of Raleigh, North Carolina, and began his military service in 2006 after graduating the Virginia Military Institute. Growing up he was active in Boy Scouts and attained the rank of Eagle Scout at Troop 357. At VMI, he double majored in International Studies & Political Science and Modern Languages (Spanish) and graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate with Institute Honors.

Upshaw has served as an intelligence officer at all echelons of the Army and Joint Force and has become an expert in the European Theater with special emphasis on Theater War Plans, Multi-National Engagements, and Operations as they relate to the Russian Invasion of Ukraine.

Prior to arriving to European Command, Upshaw served as the J2X, Collection Manager, and Engagements Officer at Special Operations Command Europe (SOCEUR).. Prior to arriving to SOCEUR, he served as a G2 Planner at U.S. Army Europe and later as Regimental S2 of the 2nd Cavalry Regiment. Prior to his recent assignments in Europe, Upshaw served as the Deputy Director of the Program on Terrorism & Security Studies (PTSS) at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, where he earned his Masters Degree at the German Armed Forces University of Munich. In Korea, he served as Aide-de-Camp to the 8th Army Commanding General and commanded in the 501st Military Intelligence Brigade, Yongsan Garrison, Korea.
