Maj. George Fust is currently serving as the USARPAC Theater ACE Chief. He is also an adjunct professor and teaches remotely at
the University of Texas-El Paso while simultaneously coaching youth sports teams. He was born in Texas and grew up a military
dependent. In 2008, he graduated from McKendree University’s Reserve Officer Training Corps program as a distinguished military graduate with a degree in Political Science. He was commissioned as an Armor Officer and would later transition to the Military Intelligence Corps. He also holds a master's degree in Operational Studies from the Command and General Staff Officer’s College and an M.A. in Political Science from Duke University.
His previous duty positions include scout platoon leader, troop executive officer, and squadron operations officer in 4/4 CAV, 1 ID at Fort Riley, Kansas. Following a deployment to Afghanistan and transitioning to the MI Corps, he served as the battalion intelligence officer for 2-503rd IN BN and MI company commander for the 173rd Airborne BDE in Vicenza, Italy. He would remain in Italy to help stand up the newly formed 207th MIB (T) as the deputy BDE operations officer. Following graduate school, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Social Science Department at the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, New York.
His research has been published in numerous outlets and journals. He has also presented his work at numerous academic conferences and guest speaker engagements. Following CGSC, he served in the 75th Ranger Regiment. In this assignment he served as a Battalion Operations Officer and Battalion Executive Officer, with a deployment as a Joint Task Force J2. Additionally, he contributed to numerous crisis response and counterterrorism operations.
Fust is a graduate of Airborne School, BOLC II, Armor Officer Basic Course, Infantry Mortar Leader Course, Army Reconnaissance Course, Air Assault School, Combatives Level 1 and 2, Ranger School, Pathfinder School, MI Officer Transition Course, MI Captain’s Career Course, the Electronic Warfare Signal Intelligence Course, Command and General Staff Officer’s College, Joint Fire Power Course, and the Army Space Cadre Basic Course.
Fust’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Army Superior Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2 service stars), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO ISAF, and the Combat Action Badge. Fust’s foreign awards include the German Armed Forces Badge for Military
Proficiency (Gold), the Norwegian Road Marching Badge, and the parachutist badge from Cameroon, Greece, and Great Britain.
He was selected as the 2015 LTG Weinstein Award recipient for excellence in Military Intelligence. He is a Knowlton Award recipient and a 2014 CSA Strategic Fellowship Graduate.
Fust is married to his supportive wife and is the proud father of three children.
