ProCamps kick-off Feb. 16
Registration is open for members of the military community to participate in the Procter & Gamble Military ProCamps Virtual Kick-off event Feb. 16, 1-3 p.m. Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones and Washington Football Team defensive tackle Jonathan Allen will be hosting the event. The first 200 registrants will receive a digitally signed photo from the athletes.
Participants can register for the kick-off event by going to www.procamps.com/pgmilitaryprocamps. Everyone who registers will be able to submit a question to ask the athletes and will also be entered into the event raffle. All instructions and a link to the event will be emailed out to those who register a few days before the virtual event.
Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) employees do not have to register to view the event. Instead, with prior supervisor approval, they can view it on Facebook Live (www.facebook.com/G3mktg).
The Feb. 16 event is the official kickoff of the annual P&G-sponsored NFL ProCamps program for thousands of military children worldwide. P&G is partnering with DeCA, the Army and Air Force Exchange, the Navy Exchange Service Command, the Marine Corps Exchange and the Coast Guard Exchange to host the virtual event.
“This is the ninth year of the ProCamps program and to date we have hosted over 90 football camps for military kids all over the world,” said Molly Fanning, vice president of Partnership Marketing. “We really want to continue to emphasize that this event is possible because of the support of the commissary and the exchange. They are truly the ones who are helping to bring the camp experience to installations around the world.”
Both NFL hosts for the Feb. 16 kick-off event have close military ties. Jones’ parents were both in the military: His father retired as an Army command sergeant major and his mother retired as a sergeant major. Allen’s father retired as an Army sergeant first class and his brother currently serves as an Army staff sergeant.
Ordinarily, P&G military resale organizations partner to sponsor two-day football camps for winning military bases worldwide. Installations qualify for a camp based on sales of designated P&G products at their local commissaries and exchanges, and customers can have their say by voting through mobile texting from Feb. 26 to April 11. Customers will also see mass product displays in participating stores.
Last year’s in-person camps became virtual events in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, the status of the in-person ProCamps is still to-be-determined based upon COVID.
“We are hoping to be able to do in person camps, but if on base activities and large gatherings are still not allowed we will be doing virtual events again like last summer,” Fanning said.
