Brigadier General Jon A. Standridge distinguished himself as both a citizen and a Soldier. He was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and began his military career in 1958. In May 1959, he graduated from the Infantry Officer Basic Course and served in company grade positions with the 1st Battle Group, 29th Infantry Regiment at Fort Benning, Georgia. He left active duty in 1961 and served in numerous Reserve Component positions culminating in his selection to command the 460th Chemical Brigade as a Brigadier General in the U.S. Army Reserve. As a civilian, he served America as the Postmaster in Mount Ida, Arkansas, where he is also the owner/operator of the Standridge Ranch.
