Last month, the Belvoir Spouses' Club awarded $3,500 in scholarships to 4 students in the Greater Washington D.C. Area. The BSC Scholarship Program focuses on awarding merit-based scholarships to deserving military spouses and children/dependents of military Service members who are civic-minded, aligning well with the Club's mission.
The 2021 BSC Scholarship recipients are:
Ashley Pearson of Alexandria, Va., a second-year student at the University of Pennsylvania, University Park
Keegan Phillips of Lorton, Va., an incoming freshman at George Mason University
Joshua Oliver of Springfield, Va., an incoming freshman at George Mason University
Miller Berge of Fort Belvoir, Va., an incoming freshman at Grove City College
"We are proud of all of our students in the military community," said Kari Sturim, president of the Belvoir Spouses' Club. "The students work incredibly hard despite frequent moves, deployed parents, and other challenges associated with the military lifestyle."
"During the pandemic, our scholarship recipients showed perseverance in academics and continued to serve their community at school, church, and with other nonprofits and organizations," Sturim added. "It is a privilege to recognize the recipients' achievements."
