The Public Affairs Office supports Fort Belvoir by communicating on behalf of the installation and its leadership - providing clear, accurate, timely information to internal & external audiences. We employ a variety of communication strategies- including internal news and information products, media engagement, and public outreach.

Media Relations

The Media Relations Branch is responsible directly to the Public Affairs Officer on all aspects of public information as applicable to civilian media coverage of incidents, accidents, events and activities of Fort Belvoir. Responds to all media queries regarding incidents, accidents, events and activities of Fort Belvoir. Serves as releasing officer for all news releases, to include written and verbal releases to media. Serves as liaison between media and the command.

Command Information

The Command Information Branch maintains operational responsibility for The Bugle, an internal Garrison newsletter, social media sites, and the website. Command Information provides assistance to the PAO with emphasis on maintaining effective relationships, organizing and presenting appropriate information on special events hosted by the installation and the internal command information program.

Community Engagement

The Community Engagement Branch is responsible for all aspects of the command’s community engagement program to include developing understanding and support of the missions and functions of Fort Belvoir and being good neighbors by fostering relationships and understanding the needs of surrounding communities.

Garrison Photo Lab

The Fort Belvoir Photo Lab is permanently closed as a result of the U.S. Army eliminating DA pictures from selection boards for officer, warrant officer, and enlisted promotion.

The Fort Belvoir Public Affairs Office does not take DA photos, we only take photos for USAG Fort Belvoir Command only.

If you work for USAG Fort Belvoir Headquarters please email Fort Belvoir Public Affairs Office at usarmy.belvoir.id-sustainment.mbx.public-affairs-office@army.mil to schedule an appointment.

Appointments are made on Wednesdays from 1000- 1500.

For those who work outside of USAG Fort Belvoir Headquarters, please visit VIOS at https://vios.army.mil/ to schedule an appointment with the nearest photo lab in the area.

If you are located in the National Capital Region (NCR), we recommend in VIOS to reach out to the Pentagon, Maryland National Guard or Aberdeen Proving Grounds, to schedule DA photo at no charge, in the required digital format, for all Soldiers and Civilians needing them for promotion, retention or other official purposes.
