Welcome to Fort Belvoir!
Installation access has returned to 100% ID checks at the gate to enhance the safety and security of Fort Belvoir. This change is indefinite and will remain in effect until ordered otherwise by the Garrison Commander.
Accepted Identification Cards include:
- DOD Common Access Cards
- Military Retiree ID Cards
- Military Dependent ID Cards
- Veterans Health ID Cards
- Sponsored Guest Passes
VISITOR CONTROL CENTER
The Visitor Control Center (VCC), located at Tulley Gate, 9500 Pohick Road, Bldg.1409, is open weekdays 6 a.m. – 6p.m.
The VCC staff provides a range of services to manage and facilitate installation access to include issuing visitor passes for guests, contractors and vendors. The staff can help visitors find a destination on post and answer general questions about installation services and events.
After hours and weekends, visitors and commercial traffic must use the right-hand lanes at Tulley Gate.
GAINING ACCESS
Due to recent changes in Fort Belvoir access control policies, all visitors without a DoD ID must undergo a background check and be sponsored by a DoD ID cardholder to access Fort Belvoir. Visitors accessing the installation for an official purpose (government contractors, non-DoD guests of a tenant organization, vendors, school personnel, etc.), must contact the host organization's designated official Installation Access Sponsor.
SPONSORED VISITOR PASS
DoD ID cardholders can sponsor guests for unrestricted access in person at the Visitor Control Center, Monday – Friday from 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. Sponsors must be 18 years of age or older and are not required to live or work on the installation. Visitor Passes are required for visitors who are 18 years or older and may be issued for up to one year. DoD contractors, including those with the green stripe, are not authorized to sponsor individuals.
To minimize wait times, the sponsor has the option of submitting the Sponsored Visitor Pass application in advance of their guest’s arrival. The VCC recommends requesting installation access at least 72 hours prior to the planned visit. Visitors who use their state-issued driver’s license or state-issued identification card information on their application can submit their applications by email. If you do not have a state-issued driver's license or identification card, you can complete the form, print it off, and process through the Visitor Control Center. This will save you time from having to complete the form in the office.
All others will process through the Visitor Control Center upon arrival.
When requesting a pass, the applicant’s Social Security Number (SSN) is required, and the applicant agrees to a background check using the National Crime Information Center Interstate Identification Index (NCIC-III), a Federal Bureau of Investigation database that provides criminal histories from all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Forms that are illegible or incomplete cannot be processed. Visitors are required to pass a favorable background check before being granted unescorted access to the installation.
Please click on Fitness Determination. If you have any of these offenses on your criminal record, you will not be allowed access to the installation.
Davison Army Airfield (DAAF) Access: To access this area, you must complete the Sponsored Visitor Pass. The sponsor must work on Davison Army Airfield and be a DoD Civilian or Active-Duty U.S. Military.
Foreign Visitors: Foreign visitors that are accessing the post for official business must be cleared through the Fort Belvoir DPTMS Security Office. Once cleared, they will send you a memorandum, which is considered the access pass.
Foreign visitors not accessing for business must process through the Visitor Center with a sponsor. Sponsors must possess a DoD Civilian CAC card, Active Duty or Retired Military ID Card, or Dependent ID Card 18 years of age or older.
Please note, foreign visitors must have a valid Homeland Security stamp in their passport. If there is no valid stamp, they will need to provide documents stating they are legally here in the United States. You can print off the required I094 Form here.
Taxis, Ubers, Lyfts and For-Hire Vehicles: Visitors driving these types of vehicles cannot apply for a pass, but delivery drivers or ride-share drivers with a DoD ID card will be allowed to enter.
Email the application, to include signatures of the sponsor and guest, to the Visitor Control Center at USARMY.BELVOIR.IMCOM-ATLANTIC.MBX.DES-VISITOR-CONTROL-CENTER@ARMY.MIL
Once your completed form is emailed and received by the Visitor Control Center, you will receive an automatic email reply stating your pass will be ready for pick up in 72 business hours. A confirmation email informing you that the pass is ready will not be provided.
To pick up the pass, the applicant must go inside the Visitor Control Center and present their ID. A secondary ID may be required. Click on the Real ID Act link to see if a secondary ID is needed. If you do not have a secondary ID, you will not receive a pass.
If you arrive after hours, you will not be able to pick up your Sponsored Visitor Pass, but you can still access the installation by driving through the commercial canopy in the far-right lane at Tulley Gate. Only the applicant can pick up their own pass.
If you have questions, call the Visitor Control Center at 703-806-4892 or 703-806-4893.
