Fort Drum Exchange officials announce
‘We Care’ Day of Deployment event for children
FORT DRUM, N.Y. – The Fort Drum Exchange is partnering with commissaries to host a family-themed “We Care” event in support of the National Day of Deployment.
Exchange officials invite children of deployed service members to create special care packages with personalized crafts and items for their deployed loved ones from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 27 at the main entrance to the Fort Drum Main Exchange.
The Exchange will supply a $10 commissary gift card, which shoppers can use to buy approved items, plus a $20 Exchange gift card to go in the care package. Children also will receive a “flat” service member to color and personalize, as well as a photo frame featuring the “We Care” slogan and logos for the participating military retailers.
“The separation that comes with deployment is stressful for warfighters and their Families, especially military children,” said Fort Drum Exchange General Manager Pat Hastings. “With the We Care event, the Exchange is offering the children of deployed service members a fun and stress-free way to express how much they care about their favorite service member.”
Once a box is packed for shipping, a Fort Drum Exchange team member will seal it to ensure the safety of items being shipped to deployed locations. All shipping supplies, including boxes, tape and bubble wrap, will be provided by the Exchange.
The Fort Drum Exchange is one of 20 Army & Air Force Exchange Service locations participating in the event alongside select Navy Exchange Service Command, Marine Corps Exchange and Coast Guard Exchange locations.
Shoppers can contact the Fort Drum Exchange at (315) 773-0062 for more information.
