Holiday gate closures announced

Fort Drum officials have announced the following gates closures in observance of Memorial Day Weekend:

Col. Michael Plummer Gate will close at 7 p.m. May 24 and will reopen at 4:30 a.m. May 28.

Wheeler-Sack Army Airfield Gate will be closed May 24-27 and will reopen at 5:30 a.m. May 28. Note: When WSAAF Gate is closed, those who need to access the airfield should use the Gas Alley Gate and traverse Bomporto Bridge.

Fort Drum officials announce
quiet hours on Memorial Day

Fort Drum will open cemeteries for visitation on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27. There are 13 cemeteries located on the installation, and 10 of those are accessible without entering the Fort Drum cantonment area.

Community members may visit the cemeteries on Fort Drum's ranges between 8 a.m. and sunset on Memorial Day and do not need to stop at Range Control to obtain a vehicle pass for that day.

The three cemeteries within the gates - Cooper Cemetery, Quaker Cemetery, and the gravesite at LeRay Mansion - require a pass for visitors to enter the installation. Individuals may obtain a pass inside the Visitor Control Center, located at the Lt. Gen. Paul Cerjan Gate, after completing a quick background check.

Officials announce street closure

Fort Drum Directorate of Public Works officials have announced that they will close the end of Mount Moska Street by the intersection of Bedlam Road, May 22-24, for asphalt repairs.

Rail operations may impact traffic

Fort Drum  officials have announced that rail operations are scheduled to begin around May 27 and last until May 31, subject to change depending on information from CSX.

Rail operations could block or disrupt traffic at the following intersections: Mount Belvedere Boulevard, Guard Lane, Conway Road, and Euphrates River Valley Road. Officials do not anticipate school bus routes being disrupted, but drivers should be prepared to adjust if necessary.
