Super Science Saturday to be held Feb. 2
at Jefferson Community College

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (Jan. 22, 2019) – It’s time for Super Science Saturday at Jefferson Community College (JCC)! Super Science Saturday, a celebration of math and science and an exploration of science careers, will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 2. Although the event is designed for students in grades 5-8, all family members are welcome to attend. Admission is free.

Super Science Saturday (SSS) showcases interactive exhibits and hands-2019 SSS.jpgon demonstrations including a cool sand exhibit that explores the properties of sand that behave like a fluid! Students will see how much fun science can be and take a stroll through the super colon, a 20-foot-long inflatable colon.

JCC faculty, assisted by current students, will give demonstrations in zoo keeping, chemistry, biology, geology, math, engineering and health-related careers.

SSS will feature a chemistry magic show presented by James Peploski of Clarkson University and a lasers and rainbows show presented by Thomas C. Altman.

Additionally, students will have fun with a science-themed photo booth. Representatives of several community organizations will be on hand to share career information and provide interactive activities with students.

SSS will take place at JCC in the Jules Center, McVean Student Center, Guthrie Science Building and the Gregor Building. Concessions, parking, a campus map and programs will be available at the event.
