Exploring the Small Farm Dream will be webinar series topic

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (Jan. 16, 2019) – If you've ever wondered if agriculture might be in your future, make plans to sign up for the Exploring the Small Farm Dream webinar series.

Cornell Cooperative Extension Jefferson County, in collaboration with the Broome County CCE, will offer this four-part series through a webinar at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Association office at 203 N. Hamilton St., Watertown.

The sessions will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturdays on Jan. 26 and Feb. 2, 9, and 16. Participants will receive and use a workbook from the New England Small Farm Institute to understand all aspects of farming and how it may (or may not) fit into their lifestyle.

During this four-part series, participants will begin to think through small-scale farming as a business (rather than a hobby), learn what it takes to start and manage a farm business, and decide whether that is something they want to pursue. Through in-classroom education, peer support, and self-study, participants will finish the series answering the question of whether farming is for them, and move onto working through a business plan.

The cost to attend this series is $50 per farm or family; however, it is free for veterans and military Families. This includes a workbook to walk through the four-part decision making phase, as well as refreshments provided at each meeting. Registration is required.

To register, contact Alyssa Couse at (315) 788-8450, ext. 278; email amc557@cornell.edu, or register online at https://reg.cce.cornell.edu/SmallFarmDream_222.
