Fort Drum officials advise community members
of early-release, delayed-reporting procedures
FORT DRUM, N.Y. – Weather can be harsh in the North Country. When inclement weather affects Fort Drum, the garrison commander may issue one of three orders: delayed reporting, do not report, or early release.
Soldiers, Family Members and Department of the Army civilian employees should become familiar with how those orders impact the post community and the announcement procedures Fort Drum officials use in the event that weather forces delayed reporting or early dismissal for “non-emergency-essential” personnel.
To determine whether they are “emergency-essential” or “non-emergency-essential,” Soldiers and DA civilian employees should consult their supervisors.
Delayed reporting
Unless notified by their chain of command, non-emergency-essential military personnel will report at 1 p.m. Emergency / mission-essential personnel will report as scheduled unless notified otherwise by their chain of command.
Non-emergency-essential DA civilian personnel will report to duty / work no later than 10 a.m. Normal support services will start at 10 a.m. (i.e., gyms, Army Community Service). Emergency / mission-essential personnel will report as scheduled unless notified by their chain of command / supervisor.
Child and Youth Services (child development centers, School Age Center) will open at 9 a.m.
Guthrie Ambulatory Health Care Clinic, OB/GYN Clinic at Samaritan, and all troop and dental clinics will open at 10 a.m. Patients who have appointments before 10 a.m. should reschedule their appointments.
Fort Drum Welcome Center: All in-processing Soldiers who have appointments that day in Clark Hall must report to Clark Hall at 1 p.m. For additional information, Soldiers can contact their respective platoon sergeants.
All other Clark Hall agencies will be closed until 10 a.m.; any activities or appointments scheduled before 10 a.m. must be rescheduled.
Do not report
Unless notified otherwise by their chain of command, non-emergency-essential uniformed military personnel and civilians will not report to duty / work. Emergency and mission-essential personnel will report as scheduled unless notified otherwise by their chain of command / supervisor.
Child and Youth Services (child development centers and School Age Center) will be closed.
Guthrie Ambulatory Health Care Clinic, OB/GYN Clinic at Samaritan, and all troop and dental clinics will be closed.
The Fort Drum Welcome Center will remain open for new arrivals (Soldiers). All other agencies in Clark Hall will be closed, and previously scheduled activities and appointments must be rescheduled.
Early release
Unless notified otherwise by their chain of command, non-emergency-essential uniformed military personnel and civilians will be released from duty / work at the designated time. Only emergency and essential personnel will be authorized to remain on duty.
Child and Youth Services (child development centers and School Age Center) will close one hour after the early release time.
Any patient who has an appointment after the early release should call his or her health care provider for instructions.
