Fort Drum Mountain Community Homes, local partners
donate 170 turkeys to Soldiers and their Families
FORT DRUM, N.Y. (Nov. 27, 2018) – Last week in celebration of Thanksgiving, the Fort Drum Mountain Community Homes staff teamed up with their local partners to give Soldiers and Families an opportunity to win a turkey during the annual Turkeys for Troops giveaway. As a small gesture of thanks to those who serve our nation, 170 turkeys and side dishes were provided to the winners.
“Here at Mountain Community Homes, we truly understand the impact the military lifestyle can have on our Families with spouses deployed or living away from their friends and Families during the holidays,” said Megan Klosner, project director for Mountain Community Homes. “Each year we strive to provide events and giveaways during the holidays that will help our Families feel at a home and provide an opportunity to create fun memories.”
Despite the cold weather, representatives from Best Western and Savory Downtown unloaded the birds from a trailer and into the hands of Soldiers and their Families.
“Through our partnership with Best Western and Savory Downtown,” Klosner added, “we were happy to bring a little bit joy to the Soldiers and Families stationed here at Fort Drum once again this year and look forward to continuing to do so in the years to come.”
