      Responsibility

            Requestor's responsibility:

      •  Dig requestor is responsible for marking proposed dig site with white paint and will thereafter be      responsible for maintaining all marked color lines in accordance with national standards as they were laid down by the UULC and other utility owners for life of the dig permit.

      • Non maintenance of marked color lines will result in the need for a new dig permit request.

            General Contractors and All Subcontractors

      •  To avoid multiple locates and wait times for a single project, we recommend that you package your digging sessions to occur on the same date and time. Each general contractor and each subcontractor must have a digging permit for each site.

            Locator's Responsibility

      • The Utilities Underground Location Center and other utility owners are responsible for the initial color markings of all underground utilities located within the requestor's white proposed dig site. Markings will show the proper national standard colors.

            National Utility Standards markings:

      •      White - proposed excavation
      •      Pink - temporary survey markings
      •      Red - electric power lines, cables, conduit and lighting cables
      •      Yellow - gas, oil, steam, petroleum or gaseous materials
      •      Orange - communication, alarm or signal lines, cables or conduit
      •      Blue - potable water
      •      Purple - reclaimed water, irrigation and slurry lines
      •      Green - sewers and drain lines
