BACKGROUND
Fort Bragg is Home of the Airborne and Special Operations and is often called “the center of the military universe.”
When America needs her armed forces, the first phone call is to Fort Bragg, Home of XVIII Airborne Corps, “America’s Contingency Corps.” The 82nd Airborne Division provides the Global Response Force; and the U.S. Army Special Operations Command is headquartered here. Originally known as Camp Bragg, Fort Bragg was founded in 1918 as an artillery training post.
POPULATION
The largest U.S. military installation in terms of population, Fort Bragg has approximately 53,700 troops and another 14,000 civilians work on the post.
Fort Bragg has almost 10 percent of all army forces assigned to the installation. Virtually a city in itself, the post supports a population of roughly 260,000, including military Families, contractors, retirees and others.
SIZE
Fort Bragg covers approximately 284.5 square miles, which is over 172,000 acres. Of the 172,000 acres, 146,000 of those are dedicated training lands. Fort Bragg contains more than 1,400 miles of paved road and 23 miles of railroad.
INSTALLATION ACCESS AND FAQ'S Any visitor without a valid Department of Defense or other valid ID wishing to visit the installation must first stop at the All American Visitor Control Center to obtain a pass. Visitors Access Center

FORT BRAGG ONLINE PASS APPLICATION
Visitors requiring a pass for access to Fort Bragg can now apply for passes online. The online pass process can only be utilized by personnel who are US citizens, have a valid state issued REAL ID-compliant driver's license or ID, and have a mobile phone.
After vetting, visitors will be sent a text informing them if their visit has been approved or denied. Visitors with a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or identification card may proceed to any of Fort Bragg's access control points to be scanned for access. Passes will NOT be sent via email to the visitor.
Passes may be requested no more than 30 days in advance and are only valid for the purpose of the visit (not to exceed a maximum of 7 days). Online pass applications are only processed during Visitor Control Center operating hours. It is recommended that visitors submit pass applications 24 hours in advance of their planned visit.

REAL ID ACT
The REAL ID Act is a federal policy which establishes minimum security standards for license issuance and production and prohibits Federal agencies from accepting for certain purposes driver’s licenses and identification cards from states not meeting the Act’s minimum standards. The purposes covered by the Act are: accessing Federal facilities, entering nuclear power plants, and, boarding federally regulated commercial aircraft. Access Control
Fort Bragg Automated Installation Entry IV (AIE IV)
AIE IV Overview
Fort Bragg uses the Army’s Automated Installation Entry IV (AIE IV) at preinstalled AIE capable installation Access Control Points (ACP) to enhance security and expedite access to base. AIE IV leverages technology that will increase security for Soldiers, Family members, DoD civilians, retirees, contract employees, and guests by verifying identity of the individual(s) and ensuring they meet Army approved access standards against FBI criminal and terrorist authoritative databases.
AIE IV Registration
If a DoD cardholder’s identification fails to work at an AIE IV access lane they need to proceed to the All American Visitor Control Center (VCC) for registration troubleshooting. The AIE IV system has in lane registration capability for all DoD ID cards. This means when a DoD ID cardholder drives up and scans their card for the first time at a lane pedestal the initial registration process will take 5-10 seconds to validate their credential. Subsequent scans following the initial registration process will only take 1-3 seconds thereafter.
Visitor Control Center (VCC)
The non-DoD visitors AIE IV registration process takes 2-5 minutes to complete to receive an access pass/card. The Fort Bragg All American (VCC) located at the All American Hwy, Access Control Point (ACP), Building H-1575, outside ACP 5, or if you are a sponsored commercial vendor or contractor please use the Truck Plaza VCC located off Cook Street in Building K-1153 outside ACP 16. AIE IV registration will be Sun-Sat, 0500-2100 at the All American VCC and 0500-2100 Monday –Friday at the Truck Plaza Truck Plaza. Truck Plaza weekend registration hours are 0500-1300 located off Cook Street. See Attached Instructions for COMMERCIAL DELIVERIES.
AIE IV Cards
Fort Bragg AIE IV Access Cards may be issued for a maximum of one year for individual(s) who require recurring access to the installation for official business. The application request form (DES Form 118) for access cards will be located on the Fort Bragg Physical Security webpage or HERE. Sponsorship is required in order to obtain a card and all applications (DES Form 118) scanned and emailed to DES Visitor Sponsorship mailbox using the approving authority’s government email account. Once approved, the approving authority will be notified so they can contact the applicant(s) to go and process for their AIE IV card.
Visitor Passes
Visitor Passes will be issued to all non-DoD persons with a valid reason for entering the installation. A security vetting process will be completed on each non-DoD individual prior to receiving a visitor’s pass. Once vetted a visitor’s pass may be issued for a period of six months for all non-DoD personnel. If the AIE IV vetting system in not operational at the time the non-DoD visitor arrives at the Visitor Control Center, all non-DoD visitors will be issued a one-day pass with instruction to return to the Visitor Control Center the following day to receive the six-month visitor’s pass. This includes all non-DoD passengers riding in a non-DoD person’s vehicle. Enrollment in the AIE IV program will not exempt an individual from being selected for random inspection in accordance with the installation's Random Anti-terrorism Measures Program.
Visitor Pass Process (Unofficial Form)
Foreign National Visitors (Not On Military Orders):
(1) Foreign national visitors, traveling in the U.S., not on military orders are Not Authorized Unescorted
Access to Fort Bragg. They are required to be sponsored by an adult authorized DoD ID cardholder utilizing a completed and approved DES Form 118 (Appendix N) and always escorted for access to FBNC.
(2) Forty-eight (48) hours in advance, the sponsor must submit a “Request for a Foreign National FB Installation Access Control Pass”, DES FM 118, via an “.mil email,” and must digitally signed and encrypt the email for the protection of the visitors’ information (Click Here For Form). The Form must be approved and signed by a Designated Representatives for Brigade/Group/Battalion/Squadron or higher CDRs, Executive Officers, Directors, Deputy Directors, or Contract Officer Representatives (CORs), as it applies to the sponsor and/or purpose of visit. Once completed, the form can also be hand delivered 48hrs in advance by the sponsor, to the All American Visitor Center or email: usarmy.bragg.id-readiness.mbx.des118@army.mila completed and approved DES Form 118 to the FB DES/Physical Security Division,
Department of the Army Security Guards Army Security Guards (Chief of Guards), phone (910) 432-1200/1199. A VCC representative will contact and request the sponsored person(s) report to the VCC for issuance of their access card.
(3) Visitor passes may only be issued for up to 90 days. Copies of the ID documents for the visitor and DoD sponsor will be made at the Visitor Control Center. If the sponsor refuses to allow their identity documents to be copied a pass will not be issued and the foreign national visitor will be denied access to the installation.
(4) Foreign national visitors, excluding citizens of Canada and those visitors on military orders, are required to produce either a passport with a Form I-94, OR an I-551 (Permanent Resident Card, aka: “Green Card”). Foreign nationals from countries that are part of the Visa Waiver Program will be issued a Form I-94W or have a stamp placed in their passport. The I-94/I-94W or the stamp is issued to all foreign visitors by US Customs when they initially enter the US. These documents are required to be presented to receive a pass at the VCC. Note: Passports often include a VISA overprint in the internal pages. The status of the VISA is not a determining factor for installation access.
(5) The VCC will collect full data on foreign national visitors who are not on military orders. Copies of the passport and the accompanying I-94 or I-94W, or I-551 for Permanent Resident Aliens, military ID, orders, and any other pertinent documentation presented will be made and scanned into a portable document format (PDF) file.
(6) In addition to the information on the AIE visitor pass, the foreign national driver, and foreign national passengers of a vehicle, whether a sponsor is required or not, will have an AIE visitor pass/card completed IAW the AIE pass/card enrollment.
(7) Canadian citizens are only required to show some form of valid ID (e.g., DL and/or passport), an I-94 or I-551 is not required.
Visitor Passes (After Visitor Center Closes)
All non-DoD personnel will use the All American Access Control Point on the All American Freeway to receive a visitor pass from 2100-0500 hours. Visitors must have valid ID and a valid reason for access. A complete background check will be conducted by security and a temporary one day pass will be issued. The visitor will be instructed to return to the All American Visitor Center the next day to have an AIE pass issued in order to continue access on the installation.
Trusted Traveler (Currently Suspended 21 April 2020, 100% ID Card Check)
The AIE IV system allows registered DoD ID personnel to act as “Trusted Travelers,” which means only the DoD ID cardholder driver has to scan their identification card, not one for each passenger. The term Trusted Traveler only applies to passengers with a valid reason for entering the installation, such as guests of the DOD sponsor under their immediate control. The Trusted Traveler program will be suspended at increased FPCON levels and may be suspended as local threat situations dictate. As part of the enrollment process, all customers will be required to read the Trusted Traveler program memorandum at the VCC during system enrollment
Recreational Vehicles
A Recreational Vehicle (RV) includes motorhomes, campervans, caravans (also known as travel trailers and camper trailers), fifth-wheel trailers, popup campers, boats, and truck campers.
(1) All DoD ID Card Holders (Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, DA/DOD CAC Holders, Military Retirees and Family Members), and AIE Pass approved visitors are authorized to enter any open Access Control Point (ACP) while operating an RV.
(2) Access of Recreational Vehicles (RV) through any open ACP will be based upon the Security Guard’s discretion to ensure oversized RVs will have safe vehicle clearance at the ACP without damaging or destroying government equipment and the RV. All operators of RVs must be prepared to be directed to an appropriate Access Control Point that can accommodate the RV’s size and safe clearance through the ACP. Security Guards are authorized to enter any RV to conduct a physical inspection before allowing access to the installation.
(3) All oversized Recreational Vehicles that are not able to enter through an Access Control Point will be directed the Knox Street Truck Plaza Monday-Friday 0500-2100 hours and from 0500-1300 on Saturday and Sunday. In the event the Truck Plaza is closed, the oversized RV will be directed to the Honeycutt Road or Long Street Access Control Points for access to the installation.
Vendors
VENDOR ACCESS INFORMATION
Fort Bragg welcomes vendors that wish to provide goods and
services to our Warfighters, Family Members and civilians.
All potential vendors on Fort Bragg must obtain a contract, either from the Directorate of Family, Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (Family and MWR ) or the Army and Air Force Exchange Service. (AAFES).
- Family and MWR provides opportunities for food vendors at various Special Events and to host conventions or expos at Iron Mike Conference Center and Smith Lake Recreation Center
- AAFES provides retail space at their Post Exchange (PX) facilities and manages our food truck program.

Our Directorate of Emergency Services ensures daily and special event security for all of Fort Bragg.
Family and MWR or AAFES will provide the vendors' contract information to DES prior to providing installation access. The vendor will not be granted access if this info has not been provided.
Additionally, all vendor personnel must obtain a visitor pass to gaining entry to the installation. A background check will be performed for all persons requesting access.
Visitor passes will be issued on the day of the event in-person at the Knox Street Truck Plaza for the vehicles carrying goods and/or equipment. Vehicles transporting personnel only should go to the All-American Visitor Center to receive their passes. Please make sure you have proper documentation to gain entry.
