The JBLM Environmental Management System is structured using ISO 14001 standards. Each participating organization is required to support annual objectives and targets that align with sustainability goals, and provide ownership and engagement by those responsible for daily operations. These objectives and targets are approved by the Installation Sustainability Board, chaired by the Joint Base Garrison Commander.
To ensure participation from the units, the Environmental Operating Permit program was developed. Units are given a customized EOP that organizes all of their environmental requirements and makes compliance with environmental laws and regulations easier on the unit.
