NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY OF A DRAFT FINDING OF NO SIGNIFICANT IMPACT AND ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT FOR INTEGRATED NATURAL RESOURCES MANAGEMENT PLAN AT JOINT BASE LEWIS-McCHORD, WASHINGTON
Pursuant to Section 102 (2) (C) of the National Environmental Policy Act 1969, as implemented by the Council on Environmental Quality Regulations (40 Code of Federal Regulations Parts 1500‑1508), the U.S. Department of the Army announces the availability for public review and comment of an Environmental Assessment to evaluate the environmental impacts associated with the Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
The Army proposes to adopt a revised Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan for Joint Base Lewis-McChord. This action will keep Joint Base Lewis-McChord in compliance with the requirements of Federal law and Department of Defense /Department of the Army Natural Resources regulations. It constitutes part of Joint Base Lewis-McChord’s required actions under the Endangered Species Act. The Sikes Act and Army Regulation 200-1, Environmental Protection and Enhancement, 13 December 2007, require Joint Base Lewis-McChord to develop an integrated plan for the management of the Installation Natural Resources and Wildlife. The plan must be developed in cooperation with, and approved by, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the appropriate State wildlife agency, in this case, the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife. The Installation Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan must be periodically reviewed and updated, as needed.
A 30-day public comment period is being held to receive written comments on the Environmental Assessment and Draft Finding of No Significant Impact. Members of the Public, Government agencies, and the Tribes are invited to review and comment on the Environmental Assessment and Draft Finding of No Significant Impact.
