JBLM Composting Facility

Earthworks accepts yard and food waste generated on Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) and processes it into compost and mulch. This service helps keep organic materials out of the landfill, reduces disposal costs, and supports on-base landscaping and land management projects.

YARD WASTE – DROP OFF

JBLM units and organizations can dispose of clean yard waste at Earthworks for free. Material must be pre-sorted and free of trash or contaminants.

  • Brush and Branches (smaller than 12" diameter)
  • Leaves
  • Shrubs
  • Fruit and vegetable trimmings
  • Flowers
Not Accepted
  • Invasive Species (i.e., Scotch broom, Himalayan blackberry) Goes in LeMay trash can

PRODUCT PICK-UP

PRODUCT- PICK UP

Subject to availability, compost and mulch is free of charge, for use by JBLM military units, organizations, and contractors on JBLM projects only.

Fill out and submit a Material Request Form signed by a Commander, First Sergeant, Senior Master Sergeant or program manager.

Earthworks personnel will approve and schedule your pickup.

Please Note: If you are picking up a large quantity of product and require loading assistance with heavy equipment, please schedule at least 48 hours in advance. For smaller, self-loaded quantities, you are welcome to visit during regular business hours (Monday-Friday 0700-1530).

Bring your military or government vehicle (no personal vehicles allowed).
