The McChord Health & Wellness Center, or HAWC, is the health promotion center of the 62nd Medical Squadron, part of the 62nd Airlift Wing.

The McChord Health & Wellness Center mission is to foster a culture that promotes a fit and healthy lifestyle within the Joint Base Lewis-McChord community. To fulfill this mission, the HAWC provides classes in nutrition, fitness and tobacco cessation for active duty personnel, dependents, National Guard, Reservists, retired military personnel and DOD civilians.

The HAWC has a complimentary staff of medical personnel, including a registered dietitian, health promotions manager and exercise physiologist. The exercise physiologist is located in the McChord Field Fitness Center Annex (Bldg. 726, 5th St.). The dietitian and health promotions manager are located in the McChord Clinic (Bldg. 690, Barnes Blvd.).

The HAWC provides blood pressure screenings, smoking cessation and lifestyle management classes. In addition, a fully-furnished kitchen provides great opportunities to learn healthy cooking, food label reading, and general nutrition principles
