10th Combat Aviation Brigade leaders case colors ahead of deployment
FORT DRUM, N.Y. (May 10, 2024) – Leaders from the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division (LI), cased their unit colors during a ceremony today at Wheeler-Sack Army Airfield as they prepare to deploy to the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.
The casing ceremony is a significant U.S. Army tradition that symbolizes the unit's transition from a garrison environment to a deployed environment.
“The battalion and brigade colors that you see posted today represent the Soldiers of 10th CAB and the soul of our nation’s experts in their craft,” Col. Christopher H. Clyde, 10th Combat Aviation Brigade commander, said during the ceremony.
Clyde continued his remarks by expressing how valuable every Soldier is to the organization.
The 10th Combat Aviation Brigade has a long history of deploying to the region as part of the most deployed division in the U.S. Army. Most recently, the unit concluded a 10-month deployment to Afghanistan in 2020. Now, Soldiers of the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade are once again prepared to answer their nation’s call.
The 10th Combat Aviation Brigade will replace the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility, as part of a regular scheduled rotation of forces.
