FORT DRUM, N.Y. (May 18, 2021) – The military property disposal field office at Fort Drum recently closed, but the support services it provides continue.

Service members and Department of Defense civilians who normally work through the Defense Logistics Agency for the removal of surplus and unwanted military equipment and goods in their unit can still schedule a property turn-in and contact disposal service representatives for assistance with DoD regulatory guidance or required paperwork.

For the past several years, customers have been able to access services online through the Digital DSR – a one-stop platform for property searches, item turn-in tools and scheduling for disposal.

Currently, customers who call the Ontario Street facility are informed of the closure via a voice recording, with two phone numbers to call for help with questions.

According to Defense Logistics Agency Disposition Services, the realignment of personnel from 35 sites across the Army to operate from larger, full-service field activities will improve average customer wait time, increase property intake capacity and save millions in operating costs.

“Our goal is to become even more efficient and precise in the support and expertise we provide you, and we will continue helping our customers at your installation remain ready to fight,” Michael Cannon, DLA Disposition Services director, wrote in a memo. “We’re standing by to address any concerns or answer any questions you may have.”
