Garrison Command Sergeant Major

Command Sergeant Major William D. Lohmeyer is a native of Louisville, Kentucky. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1991 as a 13B Cannon Crewmember. CSM Lohmeyer’s initial assignment was with Alpha Battery, 4th Battalion, 11th Field Artillery Regiment, 6th Infantry Division, Fort Wainwright, Alaska where he served in every position from Cannoneer to Gunner on an M101A1 (105T) Howitzer. In 1999, Lohmeyer completed Drill Sergeant School and was assigned as a Drill Sergeant in Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Assigned to Fort Drum, New York in 2001, Lohmeyer served as a Chief of Firing Battery and First Sergeant in the 10th Mountain Division, deploying twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2006, Lohmeyer served as First Sergeant in the 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Washington and deployed in support of the 2007 OIF Surge. From 2009-2014, he served in various positions of increasing responsibility in the Republic of Korea and First Army. Lohmeyer served at the Garrison Command Sergeant Major for Fort Rucker, Alabama from 2014 to 2016, the I Corps Fires Sergeant Major, JBLM, WA from 2016 to 2017 and most recently as the Talent Manager for 13/14 Series Sergeants Major at Human Resource Command, Fort Knox, KY.

Lohmeyer is a graduate of the Basic Leaders Course, the Advanced Leaders Course, the Senior Leaders Course, the First Sergeant Course, the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy Class 59, and a host of other military schools. 

His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal (2OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (4OLC), Army Commendation Medal (1OLC), Army Achievement Medal (8OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (8th Awd), National Defense Service Medal (1BS), Iraq Campaign Medal (3CS), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 5), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Combat Action Badge, Air Assault Badge, and the Drill Sergeant Identification Badge. CSM Lohmeyer has also been inducted into the Honorable Orders of Saint Barbara and Saint Michael.
