COL David M. Lamborn
COL Dave Lamborn was commissioned in the Infantry in June 2001 at West Point. After attending Infantry Officer Basic Course, Ranger School and the Mechanized Leader Course he was assigned to C/1-26 Infantry (Mechanized) of the 1st Infantry Division in Germany and immediately deployed to Kosovo as a Platoon Leader. He then served as the Executive Officer for the Brigade Recon Troop and deployed to Iraq in March 2004. Following a year in Iraq, he commanded F/1-19 Infantry (One Station Unit Training) before attending the Maneuver Captain’s Career Course. Upon completion, he was assigned to 4th Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and deployed to Afghanistan as the commander of the Brigade Headquarters Company. Midway through the deployment, he assumed command of A/2-506 Infantry. After company command, he served as an Observer/Controller at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels, Germany from 2009 until 2012.
As a young field grade officer, COL Lamborn attended the Army Command and General Staff College and the School of Advanced Military Studies. Upon graduation in 2014, he began a series of Operations Officer assignments at the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), first as the battalion S3 for 2-327 Infantry with a deployment to Kandahar, Afghanistan, then serving as the Brigade S3 for 1st Brigade Combat Team, and completing his tour as the Division G35 with a deployment to Erbil, Iraq. His next assignment was as the U.S. Forces Korea J-35 Chief of Plans from 2017 to 2018. He was selected for battalion command and then served as the Regimental Deputy Commander of The Old Guard at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall before assuming command of 4th Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment from 2019 until 2021. He was selected to attend the Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy, studying the Defense Industrial Base with a focus on Robotics and Autonomous Systems before joining the Joint Staff J-35 in July 2022.
