Maj. Gen. Marcus Evans
Prior to taking over as the Commanding General of the 25th Infantry Division and Senior Commander of U.S. Army Hawaii, Major General Evans most recently served as the Chief of Staff, U.S. Special Operations Command. His previous command assignments include serving as the Commanding General for the NATO Special Operations Component Command – Afghanistan, Commander of the 75th Ranger Regiment, Commander of a forward deployed Joint Special Operations Task Force, Commander of the 3d Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, and Commander of the 2-505th PIR in the 82d Airborne Division. He has served in Airborne, Ranger, Light Infantry and Mechanized formations.
His staff and special assignments include service on the Joint Staff as the Deputy Director for Special Operations and Counter Terrorism (JS J37), 3d Infantry Division Deputy Commanding General (Support), and Executive Officer to the US Special Operations Commanding General.
He has multiple operational deployments in support of operations in Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq and Jordan.
Major General Evans was commissioned as an Infantry Officer in 1994. In his civilian studies he holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Tennessee Technological University, a Master’s in Business Management from Webster’s University, and a Master’s Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, KS and the U.S. Navy War College, Newport, RI.
