COL ADISA T. KING
Colonel Adisa King is a Jackson, Mississippi native and graduated in December 2000 from United States Military Academy at West Point. He commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army Infantry. After completing Airborne and Ranger School, he served in the 1-9 Infantry (Mechanized) “Manchu”, 2nd Infantry Division at Camp Hovey, Korea as an executive officer and platoon leader. He later served as platoon leader and S3 Memorial Affairs Officer in the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment “The Old Guard” in Fort Myer, VA.
After attending the Marine Corps Expeditionary School, he reported to 2nd Battalion, 3rd Brigade “Panthers”, 82nd Airborne Division, and served as a battalion assistant operations officer. In 2005 he deployed to New Orleans, LA, and supported recovery and rescue operations for Hurricane Katrina. The following months he deployed to Samarra, Iraq in support of Operation Iraq Freedom 05-06 and Operation Iraq Freedom 08-09.
After relinquishing command in late 2009, he and his family moved to United States Military Academy at West Point, where he served as an Admission Liaison Officer for the Army Football Team. In 2011, he attended Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, KS for military education and received his Masters in Business Administration from Webster University.
In 2012, he reported to the 3rd Battalion “Iron Rakkasans”, 187 Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He served as the battalion operations and executive officer and deployed to Khost Province, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 12-13. In 2014, he served as the Brigade Operations Officer and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Resolute Support. In early 2015, he served in the Senate Liaison Division (SLD) within the Office of Chief of Legislative Liaison (OCLL). He later served as the Aide to Acting Secretary of the Army Honorable Patrick Murphy followed by the confirmed 22nd Secretary of the Army, Honorable Eric K. Fanning.
In May 2017, he assumed command of 1st Squadron, 32nd Cavalry in 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). In 2019, he deployed to Baghdad, Iraq. He served as the Task Force Commander and Senior Advisor to Iraq Army Corps and Division commanders. He relinquished command in Baghdad and redeployed in June of 2019. In August of 2019 he assumed duty as the Regimental Tactical Officer for 1st Regiment in the United States Corps of Cadets. In July of 2020 he reported to the United States Army War College.
He is married and has two children.
