Housing assignments

• E6 and below will be assigned to the barracks. Soldiers should not bring signficant household goods or furniture, as space is limited and furniture is provided.
• E7 may have the opportunity to live off post.

Pre-arrival

In addition to checking out the Newcomer section of the website, be sure to bring bedding items, connect with your sponsor and have enough incidental cash (to be exchanged for Euro).

Upon arrival

• When you first arrive, you'll report directly to your unit barracks. 
• If you will be living off-post, you will be staying at the Wiesbaden Lodge, which is on Hainerberg, about a 10-minute drive from Clay Kaserne. Shuttle service is available from the Lodge to Clay.

Your home

• You likely have a roommate if you live in the barracks.
• Your barracks room will have wardrobes, 110 and 220-volt outlets and a small refrigerator provided by DPW.
• Your room will have a single bed, desk and chair provided by DPW.
• In general, homes in Germany do not have central air conditioning and floor or tabletop fans are encouraged. Click here for the IMCOM-E air conditioning policy.
• Homes have radiators for heat in the winter.

The neighborhood

• Community picnic areas, playgrounds and a dog park are available for families.
• Clay Kaserne houses many of the units stationed at USAG Wiesbaden, the fitness center, post office, a food court and other restaurants, the library and the dining facility.
• The Exchange, Commissary, Army Community Services, the Wiesbaden Entertainment Center, the Taunus Theater, the on-post gas station and much more are available a short 10-minute drive away.
• It's about a 15-minute drive to downtown Wiesbaden's pedestrian area and the main train station. The No. 28 bus is approximately a 30-minute ride to downtown from Clay.
• Right outside the gates of Clay Kaserne are numerous walking and biking trails.

The mission of the BOSS program, a non-profit organization, is to enhance the morale and welfare of single Soldiers, increase retention and sustain combat readiness. BOSS is the collective voice of single Soldiers through the chain of command, which serves as a tool for commanders to gauge the morale of single Soldiers regarding quality of life issues. Additionally, BOSS also sponsors a variety of activities before, during and after deployment to maintain the morale of single Soldiers affected by increased operational tempo and deployment stress.

The Wiesbaden Sports, Fitness and Outdoor Recreation Center on Clay offers 24-hour access through FMWR.

The Clay Chapel offers multiple services and programs from the Religious Support Office.

Strong Europe Cafe, the dining facility, is located on Clay Kaserne.

Besides books, the Wiesbaden Library on Clay Kaserne offers numerous programs for children and families

The Clay Food Court, operated by AAFES, includes Subway, Sahin's, Bun-D and Dunkin Donuts.

One of the USAG Wiesbaden's child developments centers, and the School Age Center are located on Clay Kaserne.

The Wiesbaden Army Health Clinic is located on Clay Kaserne.

The Arts and Crafts Center is just one of the services on Clay Kaserne offered by FMWR.
