North Country Troopers Assisting Troops recognized with Spirit of Hope Award 

FORT DRUM, N.Y. (Sept. 18, 2024) – Representatives of the North Country Troopers Assisting Troops organization were awarded the Spirit of Hope Award today in the Hall of Heroes at the Pentagon, Washington, D.C. Col. Matt Myer, Fort Drum garrison commander, attended the event to represent the installation and 10th Mountain Division (LI).

Now Lt. Gen. Greg Anderson nominated the organization for the award this spring as then 10th Mountain Division (LI) and Fort Drum commander. Only one nomination is awarded annually for each service branch.

 “The North Country Troopers Assisting Troops have selflessly contributed an extraordinary amount of time, talent, and resources to benefit services members, their families, and Gold Star families across the North Country,” the nomination packet noted.

“Since 2013, the North Country Troopers Assisting Troops has exemplified a service-before-self attitude, dedicating thousands of hours, considerable talent, and significant energy to take care of service members, their families, and Gold Star families. Their efforts have enhanced the quality of life for the men and women of our armed forces, their families, the Gold Star family members and the greater North Country community.

“The North Country Troopers Assisting Troops actions and character embody the values and spirit of Bob Hope and set an outstanding example for others to follow.”

About the Spirit of Hope Award

The Spirit of Hope Award exhibit notes that "Every year the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard each nominate one individual or organization whose patriotism and service to members of the U.S. armed forces reflect the patriotism and service of Bob Hope.

"These recipients selflessly contributed an extraordinary amount of time, talent or resources to significantly enhance the quality of life of service members and their families serving around the world and epitomize the values of Bob Hope – duty, honor, courage, loyalty, commitment, integrity and selfless dedication."
