Holiday Triple Crown Run Series wb.jpgFORT DRUM, N.Y. (Oct. 21, 2021) – The first of three holiday runs will begin at 9 a.m. Oct. 30 as the Fort Drum Sports, Fitness and Aquatics (SFA) staff hosts a Spooky Dash at Remington Park.

The SFA staff members have organized many themed runs in the past, but this is their first time promoting a series.

“We wanted to try something different this holiday season, and hopefully this is something the community will have fun with and want to hit the trifecta of runs,” said Jonathan Burnard, SFA coordinator.

Community members who pre-register for the Holiday Triple Crown Run Series will earn a holiday token after each race that attaches to their finisher’s medal.

Burnard said that people can participate in the races anyway they want – whether they are running competitively for time or taking their family on a stroll.

“Some people like to wear costumes to these events, and we encourage that,” he said. “We chose the 5K because it is a short enough distance that you can run it hard or easy, or you can do it as a group run or walk.”

The second run in the series is the Turkey Trot, which is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Nov. 25 outside Magrath Sports Complex. The final run is the Ugly Sweater 5K, which will take place at 7 a.m. Dec. 17 outside Magrath Sports Complex.

Participants also can register to win a gift certificate at each event. The series is open to DoD ID cardholders of all ages. People who pre-register at Magrath Sports Complex for the series will receive a discounted price.
