Barden Education Center provides education resources to Soldiers, Family Members, Retirees, and Department of Defense Civilians. Services include: educational and career counseling, Army Personnel Testing, Basic Skills Education Program (BSEP) classes, Multi-Use Learning Facility (MLF) including computer lab, room reservations, and on-post undergraduate and graduate college programs.

Army personnel testing
Our Testing Coordinator can assist with the following tests: Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT), Armed Forces Classification Test (AFCT), Pre-GT, Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE), Selection Instrument Flight Training (SIFT), Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI), and Basic Math and Science Test (BMST).

The nearest National Test Center sites are located at Fort Meade and Joint Base Andrews. Exams offered include: College Level Examination Programs (CLEP), DANTES Subject Standardization Tests (DSSTs), Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) placements exams, Extended Learning Insitute (ELI), Student Development Assessment by Local Examination (SDV-ABLE), PearsonVue. Exam proctoring is also available.

basic skills education program (bsep)
The Basic Skills Education Program (BSEP) class, formerly known as FAST, provides Soldiers with on-duty instruction in reading, math, and English. The goal is to strengthen academic skills, improve job performance, and increase reenlistment options. A new class is offered each month; registration begins the month prior.
