The Fort Belvoir Police Department provides 24-hour law enforcement, force protection, and community assistance to Service members, Family members, civilians, retirees, and guests of Fort Belvoir and maintains a liaison with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and supports installation contingency operations.
Mission
The Fort Belvoir Police Department protects people and property by providing essential law enforcement and public safety services, while promoting community involvement, stability and order through service, assistance and visibility.
Vision
The administration and operation of the Fort Belvoir Police Department will be executed to provide essential law enforcement, public safety, and related services to the public while utilizing the most efficient and effective methods available, maintaining established professional standards, and optimizing community support.
The Fort Belvoir Police Department is responsible for the daily operations of law enforcement patrols, emergency response dispatching and the Fort Belvoir station. These function include:
- Background Checks
- Weapons Registration - At the Visitor Center near Tulley Gate
- Community Center Law Enforcement Briefings
- Active Shooter Information Briefings
- D.A.R.E. Program
- Community Events
NOTE TO COMMANDERS AND LEADERS:
The Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) reminds all commanders, leaders, and members of the chain of command that if a Soldier is experiencing suicidal ideation and has access to or possession of a weapon, immediately notify the Emergency Communication Center (ECC) at 703-806-4277.
Do not attempt to resolve or de-escalate an armed crisis on your own. These incidents require an immediate law enforcement response to ensure the safety of the Soldier, responders, and the Fort Belvoir community.
Leaders should:
- Immediately notify DES/ECC.
- Maintain a safe distance and provide responding officers with pertinent information.
- Allow trained law enforcement and emergency personnel to manage the incident.
Prompt notification enables DES to coordinate the appropriate emergency response and connect the Soldier with the necessary medical and behavioral health resources.
