First public preview of ‘Black Hawk Down: The Untold Story’
to take place Oct. 5 at Jefferson Community College
WATERTOWN, N.Y. – The Social Science Department at Jefferson Community College (JCC) will host the first public preview of documentary “Black Hawk Down: The Untold Story” on Friday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m. and at 5 p.m. A panel discussion will immediately follow each preview. Members of the panel include veterans of the Battle of Mogadishu that took place in October 1993 – 25 years ago.
Directed by retired U.S. Air Force Col. Randall Larsen, “Black Hawk Down: The Untold Story” brings to light the role of Task Force 2-14 of the 10th Mountain Division (LI) in the Battle of Mogadishu.
Using never-before-seen photos, battle footage, and several dozen interviews with veterans of the battle, the documentary portrays the mission of Task Force 2-14 to rescue 99 Soldiers who were surrounded by more than 1,000 well-armed hostile forces in Mogadishu, Somalia. The documentary film is based on numerous written accounts from participants, command post logs, official after-action reports, and interviews with more than 30 Soldiers.
The public is welcome to attend either preview. The content is not suitable for youths younger than 14.
